Food critic Michael Bauer writes for the San Francisco Chronicle on the advent of a Slow Food convention in the city. But, the critic takes a turn south, where the life is truly slower than that of the "city on the bay." Bauer writes:
"As Slow Food Nation was gathering steam in San Francisco, I decided to celebrate my own version of slow food by heading down the coast to Duarte's Tavern in Pescadero...
"Started in 1894, Duarte's was honored a few years ago by the James Beard Foundation as an America's Classic, and it's now being run by the fourth generation of the original family."
